This Letter of St. Paul, like all of his other Letters in the New Testament, is circumstantial. It was written to respond to certain provocations and to resolve specific problems or issues that had risen in the Church of Corinth. The significance of First Corinthians is truly great because it constitutes the main historical source for the life of the earliest Christian Churches in the Gentile world with their related problems about the faith, the ideas, and the administration.
